On November 19th, 2010, the Council Forum on Haiti Reconstruction took place at the University of Kentucky. Everett McCorvey is the director of the UK Opera and a major player in the process of creating the Haitian Harmony Children's Choir. This initiative will bring communities together and share the stories of earthquake survivors through musical performance.

On November 19th, 2010, the Council Forum on Haiti Reconstruction took place.  In a collaborative presentation, Dr. Samuel Matheny, the Nicholas J. Pisacano Professor and Chair of the Department of Family and Community Medicine, and Dr. Israel (a graduate student form the College of Public Health) discussed the situation in Haiti and how the University can help.

Holly Miller, a graduate student in the Department of Psychology, has recently received a lot of press for her research, which uses dogs as experiment subjects to test the effects of glucose on self-control. Miller's research addresses the physiological reasons for failures in self-control, but her conclusions are not just useful to understanding dog psychology, since expending glucose affects all mammals, including humans.

Ann Morris, an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biology, studies retinal regeneration and development in zebra fish. Morris discusses the potential that her research has to help people with eye diseases.
