CESL - TESL - Reception - 2014

The Center for English as a Second Language at the University of Kentucky bid a bittersweet farewell to ten Korean colleagues and scholars that were a part of the Daegu Ministry of Education program over the past year. On Thursday, February 13th, their diligence, commitment, and excellence in their studies at the UK were recognized in a ceremony when they received certificates from Dr. Thomas Clayton, the Executive Director of the Center for English as a Second Language, and Dr. Francis Bailey, Director of the Teaching English as a Second Language MA program. Mr. Young Gue Oh, a participant in the program, spoke about his experiences at UK and in the United States during a speech entitled, “There Must Be Another Meeting, Even If We Part Now” based on the Korean proverb. Professors and colleagues lingered afterwards to have one last opportunity to share in their company before the participants returned home to use their new skills and teaching methods in their classrooms in Korea.
