Basic Course Cadets were briefed on the different weapons carried in a fire squad – the service pistol (M9), the Squad Automatic Weapon (SAW/M249), the grenade launcher (M203), and the rifle (M16/M4). They were taught how to fire, dismantle, and clean each weapon and had the opportunity to live-fire M9s in the UK Rifle Team Range.
