Math Excel Spring 2014
MathExcel is a special program designed to help first-year students succeed in Calculus I and II. MathExcel students attend three 90-minute problem-solving workshops each week to build problem-solving and group study skills. MathExcel problem-solving workshops are led by our best graduate instructors, assisted by peer mentors who have completed Calculus I and II successfully. MathExcel students work in problem-solving groups of three to four students, and the workshop leader or a peer mentor is always close by to help. MathExcel students attend the same lectures, do the same homework, and take the same tests as other calculus students. But, with greater personal attention, close interaction with fellow students, and more problem-solving practice, MathExcel students have higher success rates in calculus than other students at UK.
