Pre-Professional Advising

While there are no pre-law, pre-med, pre-dental, pre-optometry, or pre-podiatry  majors, students planning to further their education in these professional fields often select majors within the College of Arts & Sciences.

According to the Association of American Medical Colleges, there is no 'best' major for those bound for medical school.  In fact, no medical school requires a specific major of its applicants.  Medical schools recognize the importance of a broad education--one with a strong foundation in the sciences blended with the social sciences and the humanities.  College of Arts & Sciences advisors are well-versed in medical school requirements and can be your source for advising in your academic major and medical school application procedures.

While there is not a fixed, comprehensive pre-law curriculum prescribed by any American law school, a broad, liberal arts education within the College of Arts & Sciences is generally considered to be excellent preparation. We will offer the building blocks to set you on your path. Our advisors are well-versed in law school application procedures and can be your source for advising in your academic major and the law school application process.
